Case Study: Full Automated Gate System Upgrade

Elite Entrance Systems was appointed to complete a full upgrade of an existing automated gate system, replacing several of the main operating and safety components to improve the system’s performance, reliability and overall safety.

The existing installation required more than an isolated repair. To provide a more complete and reliable solution, our engineers replaced the gate rams, safety edges and control board as part of one coordinated upgrade.

New FAAC gate rams were installed to provide the mechanical drive required to open and close the gates. A replacement control board was also fitted to manage the gate’s operation and ensure the automation and safety components worked together correctly.

New safety edges were installed to detect contact while the gates are moving, helping to reduce the risk of trapping or impact around the gate area.

Scope of works

  • Removal of the existing gate operating components
  • Supply and installation of new FAAC gate rams
  • Installation of replacement safety edges
  • Installation of a new gate control board
  • System set-up and configuration
  • Testing and commissioning of the upgraded gate system

Outcome

Following installation, the automated gate system was fully tested and checked to confirm that the gates were operating smoothly and that the new control and safety components were responding as intended.

By upgrading the main mechanical, control and safety elements together, the customer now has a more reliable and complete automated gate system, rather than relying on a series of individual repairs to ageing components.

The project is a good example of how a coordinated gate system upgrade can improve performance, safety and long-term reliability.
